Program Overview

The Hoboken Public Schools provide a continuum of Special Education Services for students ages 3 to 21 who are eligible for Special Education and Related Services. By implementing a system of support, Administration, Teachers, Child Study Team Members, and Related Services Staff ensure that students receive educational benefits in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).

In addition, we provide a coordinated system of Special Education and Related Services for students with disabilities designed to meet the students individual needs and increase opportunities for student achievement and success.

These services may be provided in-district or out-of-district, depending on the student's individual needs. Students who receive Special Education Services are included in general education classes whenever possible with appropriate modifications, accommodations, supplementary aids and services, all provided by highly qualified special education teachers to ensure success.

Each student's Individual Educational Plan (IEP) is developed to meet the unique needs of the student and to provide a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE). Examples of related services include, but are not limited to:
  • Speech/Language Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Physical Therapy
  • ABA Therapy
  • Counseling
  • Transportation
