Medications in School

Prescription Medications

Medications in school that are necessary for the health and safety of the student, including over the counter medications require that parents and health care provider complete the appropriate forms each school year. Medications must be delivered to the school nurse by the parent or guardian in the original container labeled by the pharmacy or physician.

Over-the-Counter Medications

Over the counter medications prescribed by a physician must be brought in a sealed bottle or package as purchased.

Asthma Inhalers and Epinephrine

Students are not permitted to carry or self administer any medication except asthma inhalers or auto injector epinephrine. Student carried asthma inhalers require competition of an Asthma Treatment plan signed by the student's physician and parent. Asthma inhalers require the use of a spacer unless the physician documents in writing that spacer is not needed. Students needing Epinephrine for Life Threatening allergies require Allergy Forms to be completed.
