If you are interested in applying for scholarships you can do a search on www.fastweb.com or on www.meritaid.com. Scholarships are also posted on the bulletin boards in the guidance office.

The list below identifies awards that were granted in recent years; while most of these scholarships are anticipated again this year, there may be some additions and a few cancellations. Please check this page often and tell your guidance counselor that you’d like to be considered for any of these awards.

EXCELLENCE in ACADEMICS or the CLASSROOM

• The Nicholas J Spina Memorial Award In memory of Nicholas Spina former Language Arts Supervisor for the Hoboken School System, presented to the graduating senior who has achieved the highest average in English for four years.
• In Memory of Rose DeBari, presented to the graduating senior with the highest grade point average in Math.
• Lawrence P. Yacullo Memorial Award, In memory of Lawrence P. Yacullo, for the graduating senior with the highest average in Science.
• Lawrence P. Yacullo Memorial Award, In memory of Lawrence P. Yacullo for the graduating senior with the highest average in Social Studies.
• The Roseann DelBoccio Physical Education Award, given to the students who attained and maintained a high level of physical fitness, activity and sportsmanship throughout their High School years.
• The Administrator’s and Supervisor’s Award to the graduating senior with the highest grade point average in language.
• Award for the highest for four years in all subjects in the academic department In Memory of Doctor Mario Sciorsci.
• The Dr. Albini Award for the second highest average in all subjects in the academic department. Edward Bloustein Award a distinguished scholars program in recognition of outstanding academic achievement.
• The Doris Seinkewicz Memorial Award, In memory of Doris Seinkewicz former Hoboken High School Faculty Member, presented to the graduating senior who has demonstrated the most significant improvement of Math.
• American Mathematics Competition Winners
• The Maria Rivera Memorial Award for the outstanding graduating senior who was once part of the Bi-Lingual program.
• Hoboken Education Association of Retired Teachers and Staff Award presented to the graduating senior who is pursuing a career in education.
• In Memory of Catherine A. Lisa, presented to the graduating senior who has shown an interest in nursing or health education.
• The Hoboken Educator’s Association Award for the graduating senior pursuing teaching as a career.
• Marines Award for Highest in Academics, Outstanding Athlete, Outstanding Music
• The Judge Zamrin Essay Competition
• The Happy Hounds of Hoboken Award is presented to a student for his or her positive representation of Hoboken High School in the community.
• High honors & honors

EXCELLENCE in THEATER and the ARTS:

• The Fredrick J. Kolb Memorial Award for excellence in the field of vocal music donated by the Hoboken High School Music Department.
• The Hoboken High School Drama Club Scholarship Award, presented to the member of the Drama Club who has contributed, participated and performed in the Theater Arts Program.
• The Robert Faro Memorial Award, awarded to a graduating senior band member who has shown dedication and loyalty to the Hoboken High School Band.
• In memory Bertha Daniello, presented to the graduating senior who is an avid reader and lover of literature.
• Poetry Out Loud is a national poetry recitation contest, which encourages the nation's youth to learn about great poetry through memorization and performance. This exciting program helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about their literary heritage.
• Teresa Calella-Soares Artist Grant
• MSG Varsity Scholarships will be awarded to seniors who are considering pursuing a career in media production; students who have submitted projects will be considered for this award.

EXCELLENCE in ATHLETICS:

• The Hoboken High School Scholar Athlete Award, presented to the graduating male and female athlete with the highest average for four years.
• New Jersey Interscholastic Athletic Association Scholar-Athlete Award

EXCELLENCE in CHARACTER:

• Boys State Participant
• The Helen Lanwehr Award, an outstanding educator and friend of Hoboken High School who has overcome adversity and excelled academically.
• In Memory of Daniel Knepp, presented to the graduating senior who has remained successful through strength of character and personal tenacity.
• The Moller Scholarship, presented to the graduating seniors who exemplifies perseverance, character and academic success.
• The John Sacci Memorial Scholarship, in memory of an outstanding educator and friend of the students of Hoboken High School, presented to the graduating senior who best exemplifies John’s positive attitude, work ethic, strength of character and compassion.
• The Hoboken High School Student of the Year Award is given to a student who embodies school spirit, has excellent attendance record, and who works to make Hoboken High School a great place.
• Elks Local Foundation most valuable student scholarship presented to the outstanding graduate for scholarship, leadership, financial need.

SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY:

• Hoboken Service Award for outstanding leadership, service and community involvement.
• The NJ Blood Services College Scholarship
• The Hoboken Rotary Club Four-Year Scholarship, awarded for academic achievement, community service and peer leadership.
• The Wiley and Sons Scholarship awarded to a graduating senior with high academic achievement, leadership and service to the community of Hoboken.
• Carmelo G. Garcia Servant Leader Award
• American Legion Appreciation Award will be presented to the student who has demonstrated character, leadership and service to the community.
• Participation in the Senior Exploratory Experience by maintaining a 3.0 GPA throughout the senior year and demonstration of peer leadership in the areas of academics and volunteerism.
• Participation in the Teen Prevention Education Program (Teen PEP) and demonstration of peer leadership in the areas of pregnancy prevention, HIV/AIDS, sexual harassment and homophobia reduction.
• World Trade Center Award is a scholarship awarded to a senior who is interested in pursuing a career in business, has a high GPA, and who has been involved in community service over his or her high school career.

HONORING OUR HERITAGES:

• The Joann Jackson Wilkinson Award, presented to the outstanding African-American graduates by the Hoboken Chapter of the N.A.A.C.P. which is dedicated to the promotion of Human and Civil Rights.
• The Puerto Rican Heritage Scholarship, awarded to students of Puerto Rican Heritage based on community involvement, citizenship and academic achievement.
• The Hoboken High School Italian Club Award given to the senior who has been most active in the Italian Club and has the highest average for two years.
• African American Club Award who has been active in the African American Club
