Hoboken HS Guidance Department Announces College Road Trips for the 2021-2022 Academic School year.

Hoboken High School to visit multiple colleges and universities across five states.

Hoboken, NJ, Monday, August 2, 2021— The Hoboken High School Guidance Department announces the return of a College Road Trips Series scheduled for the 2021-2022 academic school year for Hoboken High School Students. Hoboken High School believes in and integrates as many college and career readiness learning opportunities into the curriculum as possible. The Hoboken High School College Road Trips Series is designed to expose our students to college campuses, students, professors, and admissions counselors.

Campus visits offer a first-hand view of potential college or university choices. During each visit, students will tour classes, interact with students, and see campus personnel. It’s imperative for students to experience a day-in-the-life of college students to truly get a feel for the school they may be attending for the next four years. While touring, students will find buildings for prospective majors, visit dorm rooms, explore campus amenities, and eat in the cafeteria. This powerful experience also provides students with the opportunity to speak with collegiate tour guides and admissions counselors.

At Hoboken High School, the Guidance Department arranges for internal instant decision days, hosts its own college and career fair, and takes students to external college expos. Bringing this feature back is just another phenomenal experience that Hoboken High School offers its students.

“College visits are an important part of the admissions process. Being on the campus while classes are in session allows for students to get a good sense of class sizes, various academic majors, and instructional styles. Exploring the college atmosphere during junior and senior year will help to refine and define students’ college lists and determine what is most important.” said Damien Arnone, Director of District Operations, Guidance, Data Management and Support Services for the Hoboken Public School District.

The Hoboken HS College Road Trips Series is scheduled to run during the months of October and November of this upcoming school year and to visit 11 schools across 5 states. The destinations are as follows:

Delaware: Delaware State University

Maryland: Morgan State University *HBCU

New Jersey: Rutgers University & The College of New Jersey

New York: Columbia University, Pace University, and New York University. (NYU)

Pennsylvania: Drexel University, Temple University, Cheyney University Of Pennsylvania *HBCU, and Lincoln University *HBCU

“I cannot think of a better way for students to get to know a college than to step onto its campus.  These college tours will provide students the ability to merge digital research with real-life experiences. It is invaluable when students are deciding on their commitment.” said Robin Piccapietra, Principal of Hoboken High School.

When asked about the Hoboken High School College Road Trips Series, Dr. Christine Johnson, Superintendent of the Hoboken Public Schools said, “I am so pleased to announce that Hoboken High School will once again offer College Tour Road Trips, in addition to the robust in-house Instant Decision Day Process and the on-site and local college and university fairs. Our students deserve the very best opportunities to make the most informed decisions about higher education. I look forward to seeing what college and career path choices the Classes of 2022 and 2023 will make."
Junior and Senior students can sign up for the The Hoboken HS College Road Trips Series with their Guidance Counselors this coming fall.
