As a former student in the Hoboken Public School District and a student-athlete at Kean University, where I balanced football and academic studies, I deeply appreciate the foundation that my high school experience provided. Early on, I was captivated by the many ways I could connect and network through opportunities that Hoboken Public Schools offered, such as college fairs, campus visits, and speaking engagements with college coaches. These experiences equipped me with the professional language and confidence to pursue my passion for football at the collegiate level, shaping my ambitions both on and off the field.
Extracurricular activities were a major part of my time as a student, and the classes I took at Hoboken High School were equally transformative. The challenging coursework expanded my understanding, preparing me well for the rigorous medical courses in my pre-med track at Kean University. Each academic experience contributed to a strong foundation that carried me through my studies and athletics in college.
I must also recognize the Theatre Department's impact on my journey. Engaging in theater helped me develop performance and communication skills that would serve me in a variety of public settings, from addressing large audiences in church congregations to leading Bible study groups in college. The ability to speak confidently and connect with others has been invaluable, supporting me both academically and personally.
As a traveler, the Classroom Without Walls program broke me out of my comfort zone, giving me opportunities to explore other countries and understand how diverse cultures approach tourism. This program broadened my worldview, enriching my experience as a student-athlete with a perspective that extended beyond the field and classroom.
These experiences have had a lasting impact on my life, and I’m determined to share them with current students to inspire them to reach for their own dreams. My journey with the Hoboken Public Schools has taught me that anything is possible with determination and focus. Now, I aspire to give back as a teacher and role model in the district, guiding students in pursuing their passions and reaching their full potential.
