Ryan Sorafine - Principal, Hoboken Middle School
For the past 23 years, I have proudly served the Hoboken School District in a variety of roles that have shaped my career and strengthened my commitment to our community. From my early days as a Physical Education and Health Teacher to coaching as the Head Girls Basketball Coach and assisting with football and softball teams, each position has been a building block leading to my current role as Principal of Hoboken Middle School. Along the way, I also served as Dean of Students and Vice Principal, experiences that deepened my understanding of the diverse needs of our students. Through these roles, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing our district's journey through many transformations. Under the guidance of our current leadership, I've seen a steadfast commitment to consistent practices that support both curricular and extracurricular programs. These initiatives are intentionally designed to be inclusive and equitable, providing all students in our community with opportunities to thrive.
The positive change in the climate and culture across our schools is genuinely inspiring. Today, our students enjoy a safe, supportive, and academically enriching environment that they look forward to each day. This shift has contributed to an upward trend in student growth, and academic achievement has become a hallmark of pride for our district. As the principal of Hoboken Middle School, I have the unique privilege of seeing my journey come full circle. Many of my students' parents were once my own students or athletes, a connection that brings an extra layer of meaning and joy to my work.
I hold a deep appreciation for the Hoboken School District and the rich diversity of our community, which feels like a family united in its support for each student. I frequently remind my students that middle school years can be challenging, yet they hold invaluable lessons. My message to them remains constant: live each day with "Tiger Pride" and always “Enjoy the Ride.” It is an honor to be part of a district committed to excellence and to witness the growth and prosperity of our students and community.
