The high school orchestra consists of students that take an instrumental string class, as well as players that participate in after school rehearsals. Overall, students learn the skills needed to tune their own instrument, definitions and styles of bowing, explore dynamics, music theory, engage in sight reading activities, and hone their skills playing within an ensemble, focusing on balancing dynamics for different melodies and harmonies, while producing the best tone quality. Performers in the orchestra put on a concert in the winter and spring annually. Additional performance opportunities consist of the Trills & Thrills Music Festival at Six Flags Great Adventure and the Hudson County Teen Arts Festival each spring.
