Coach Shaun Kolmer Achieves Milestone with 150th Career Win

Hoboken, NJ, — January 7, 2025,  In a triumphant moment for Hoboken High School's Basketball Program, Head Coach Shaun Kolmer celebrated his 150th career win during a thrilling matchup against Memorial High School at Hoboken High School on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. This significant milestone adds another chapter to Kolmer's already impressive legacy as he concludes his 10th season as Head Coach at Hoboken High School, which notably included a challenging Covid-19 shortened season in 2021, where the team played just nine games.

"I am incredibly proud of Coach Kolmer and everything he has accomplished with our basketball program over the past decade," said Hoboken High School Principal Robin Piccapietra. "Reaching 150 career wins is a testament to his leadership, dedication, and ability to inspire excellence in our student-athletes.”

Coach Kolmer began his coaching journey against Newark Collegiate in 2015, where he secured his first career win. Since then, he has transformed the Hoboken Redwings into a formidable team in Hudson County. Under his leadership, the Redwings have been honored as the National Division Team of the Year three times and Kolmer himself has received the National Division Coach of the Year accolade on two occasions. His teams have consistently qualified for the state championships every season, winning at least one state playoff game in nine out of the ten seasons.

"Reaching 150 career wins is a monumental achievement and a reflection of Coach Kolmer’s exceptional leadership and dedication to the Hoboken High School basketball program," said Hoboken High School Athletic Director Jack Baker.

Kolmer's coaching excellence is further exemplified by his ability to develop talent, with three players achieving the milestone of 1,000 career points: Justin Davis, Tyshon Hanberry, and most recently, Lamir Boxley. Additionally, he has mentored first-team All-State members Justin Davis and Jasir Lane, along with Hudson County Player of the Year Nick Petruzzelli.

Looking ahead, Coach Kolmer expressed enthusiasm and determination as he aims to reach the 200-win mark. "I’m looking forward to the next 50 wins and continuing to build on our successful program," Kolmer said. His commitment to excellence and dedication to his players exemplify the spirit of Hoboken basketball.

Join us in celebrating this remarkable achievement in Hoboken's sports history and in wishing Coach Kolmer and the Redwings continued success in the seasons to come!
