Hoboken High School Senior Miles Angley Awarded Devils Youth Foundation Scholarship
Hoboken, NJ – May 5, 2025 – The Hoboken Public School District is proud to announce that Miles Angley, a standout student-athlete at Hoboken High School, has been named one of only fifteen recipients of the 2025 Devils Youth Foundation Scholarship. This prestigious $5,000 award recognizes academic excellence, commitment to community service, and a strong connection to the sport of hockey.
The scholarship, presented by the Devils Youth Foundation in partnership with the New Jersey Devils Alumni Association, honors the legacy of former Devils players who continue to support youth development and educational achievement throughout the state of New Jersey.
A three-sport varsity athlete, Miles is a key member of the Hoboken High School Soccer, Ice Hockey, and Lacrosse teams. His performance on the field and ice is matched by his academic distinction in the classroom. Miles is a member of the National Honor Society and has successfully completed a rigorous course load that includes numerous Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
“Miles is the epitome of what we hope all of our students will become—driven, well-rounded, and community-minded,” said Robin Piccapietra, Principal of Hoboken High School. “He has thrived as a scholar, an athlete, and a leader, and we are so proud to see him honored with this prestigious scholarship.”
The scholarship selection committee, made up of Devils alumni including Bruce Driver, Ken Daneyko, Travis Zajac, Andy Greene, Bryce Salvador, and Martin Brodeur, carefully evaluated applicants based on their academic records, extracurricular involvement, personal essays, letters of recommendation, and history of volunteerism. As part of the application, students reflected on how hockey has shaped their character and detailed their service contributions to their local communities.
Damien Arnone, Hoboken High School’s Hockey Head Coach and Director of District Operations, Guidance, Support Services, and Data Management, spoke to Miles’ impact both on and off the ice: “Miles is the kind of student-athlete every coach dreams of. He plays with heart, leads with humility, and is always looking for ways to give back. His recognition by the Devils Youth Foundation is a testament to the person he is—and the bright future ahead of him.”
Miles has been accepted to Clemson University Honors College, Stevens Institute of Technology - Pinnacle Scholars Program, Virginia Tech Honors College, Pennsylvania State University - University Park, Purdue University, Rutgers University, University of Tennessee, and University of Florida. He will be attending Wake Forest University this fall, where he plans to continue pursuing his academic and personal goals.
He will be formally honored later this spring as part of the Devils Youth Foundation’s statewide recognition event.
