Hoboken Public School District Partners with One To World to Launch Global Classroom Program for Third Grade Students

Hoboken, NJ, —April 27, 2026, The Hoboken Public School District is proud to announce a new partnership with One To World, a  nonprofit organization based in New York City that focuses on connecting international students studying in the U.S. with American people and communities, to bring its internationally recognized Global Classroom program to all third grade students across the district.

One To World advances global cooperation by fostering intercultural understanding through meaningful, face-to-face connections among local communities, international students, and Fulbright scholars. This mission is realized through its flagship Global Classroom program, which partners with schools and community organizations across the NYC Metro area to bring international perspectives directly into classrooms.

As part of this partnership, One To World will work directly with Hoboken’s third grade classrooms through a series of five sessions at each school. These sessions will provide students with consistent, immersive exposure to global cultures, perspectives, and ideas, seamlessly integrated into their classroom experience.

Through Global Classroom, students engage with trained international university students and scholars—known as Global Guides—who lead interactive workshops exploring world cultures and global issues. In collaboration with Hoboken educators, these sessions are designed to be engaging, inclusive, and aligned with classroom learning goals.

“The Hoboken Public School District is committed to preparing students for success in an increasingly interconnected world,” said Dr. Christine Johnson, Hoboken Public School District Superintendent. “This partnership with One To World provides our students with authentic opportunities to build global awareness, empathy, and communication skills at an early age. I can’t thank Stevens Institute of Technology enough for introducing us, through their work, to this prestigious organization.  On behalf of the Board of Education and our teaching staff, we would also like to recognize the Hoboken Public Education Foundation for funding this initiative in full.”

At its core, Global Classroom equips students with the knowledge, skills, and mindsets needed to thrive in a global society. Participants develop cultural competency by building empathy and confidence in engaging across differences, and global competency by learning to investigate the world, recognize diverse perspectives, communicate ideas, and take informed action.

Through this collaboration, Hoboken Public School District and One To World are working together to prepare the next generation to become thoughtful, informed, and globally engaged citizens.
