HOBOKEN, NJ – Hoboken High School is proud to announce that Junior, Tasha Fu, has earned recognition in the prestigious Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. This national program is the longest-running and most distinguished recognition for creative teens in grades 7–12, celebrating the best in visual arts and writing across the country.

Tasha was awarded a Gold Key for their work titled "Stories in Bloom" in the Digital Art category. The Gold Key is the highest honor at the regional level, representing the top 7% of submissions. This recognition places their work in the running for national-level awards. Additionally, "Balance in My Hands" was awarded Honorable Mention in Painting, an acknowledgment of exceptional skill and originality in artistic expression.

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards recognize the finest works submitted by students across various categories, judged by a panel of professional artists, educators, and writers. Regional awards are divided into Gold Key, Silver Key, and Honorable Mention, with the top five Gold Key winners selected as American Voices nominees, the highest regional accolade.

In addition to Tasha's artistic achievements, they are the founder of Art for Unity (@artforunitys), an initiative that provides free art education and resources to children in Hoboken. Through weekly in-person classes, monthly virtual workshops, and art supply drives, Art for Unity has reached nearly 50 students every week in the community. Her work beyond the classroom reflects a commitment to using creativity as a tool for advocacy, community-building, and education.

"Tasha's artistic talent and dedication to the community are truly inspiring," said Principal Robin Piccapietra. Hoboken HS Principal.  "Tasha’s recognition in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards is a reflection of her hard work and creativity, and we are incredibly proud to have her represent Hoboken High School in this prestigious program."
