Please note that all COVID-19 waivers from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) that previously allowed the district to provide free meals for all students expired at the start of the 2022/2023 school year. 

 

Due to the expiration of these waivers in September 2022, the Hoboken school district has resumed charging a fee for breakfast and lunch to students who are not Free or Reduced-price eligible.  The fees for the 2024/2025 school year will remain the same as last year. These fees are as follows:

 

 

As always, households qualifying for Free or Reduced-price eligibility will receive meals without charge.  In addition, students in households that qualify for SNAP, TANF or FDPIR benefits are directly certified for free meals. We encourage all families to complete an application to see if you qualify for additional benefits.  You may complete either a paper or online application.  To complete your application online, please reference the instructions below for My Mealtime Apply Online.

PARENT PORTAL & ONLINE LUNCH APPLICATION SYSTEM: MEALTIME & MEALTIME APPLY ONLINE

 

Over the 2024 summer, the Hoboken Public School district transitioned from our previous meal account vendor, PaySchools, to My MealTime. This transition means that, starting in the 2024/2025 school year, you will be able to complete your child(ren)’s online lunch applications, preload meal funds and monitor account activity all at www.mymealtime.com. Creating your My MealTime account is easy and takes just a few minutes following the instructions! All you will need is your child(ren)’s student id number & school name. However, should you need any help at all, MealTime’s support team is ready and available at [email protected]. 

 

Please be aware that, if your child had an account balance in PaySchools, it has already been transferred to My MealTime and you will be able to see it as soon as you add your child to your profile.

 

Once you have created a My MealTime account, you can also complete the 2024-2025 Application for Free and Reduced Price Meals online at My Mealtime Apply Online.  Paper applications are also available in English and Spanish at your child’s school.

Download the mobile app

Use your device’s web browser and go to mymealtime.com. If you’re on a mobile device, from the My MealTime sign-in screen, choose the appropriate button to download the My MealTime app.

 

Easy steps to use My MealTime

Step 1: Register. Click or tap the Register button and follow the onscreen prompts to create your My MealTime account.

Step 2: Link Your Student. Click or tap the ‘Add Student’ button, then find your student’s school. Link them to your profile by using their student ID number that was provided by your student’s school.

Step 3: Make a Deposit.** You may choose to store your credit/debit card for quick and easy repeat use.

 

My MealTime keeps you current

Stay informed. Monitor your student’s lunch account activity.

Be notified. Email reminders tell you when your student’s account is low.

Schedule deposits. Weekly, monthly or in any frequency you choose.

Please note that MealTime Online does charge a website transaction fee for making deposits via the website. This transaction fee is 4.9% of the deposit total.

 

Parents may also continue to deposit funds into a student’s account by sending a check made out to “Hoboken Board of Education Cafeteria Account” to school.  There will be no service charge on funds deposited in this manner.

LUNCH APPLICATIONS, ELIGIBILITY & RESPONSIBILITY FOR MEAL CHARGES

 

 

REMINDER: Have you submitted a lunch application for the 2024/2025 School Year?

 

All households are encouraged to complete a free and reduced meal application, even if you believe you may not qualify, as the information obtained may be used for other statistical evaluations and grant opportunities that may benefit the school district as a whole.  Applications can be completed online at My Mealtime Apply Online or paper applications can be submitted to your child’s school.

FREE / REDUCED MEAL ELIGIBILITY

As always, Breakfast and Lunch (complete meals) are $0 cost for Free and Reduced Eligible Students, as well as for those eligible through the New Jersey Expanded Income Eligibility (NJEIE). Income guidelines for both the Federal and NJEIE food programs are available below.

We provide the Free and Reduced Lunch Application on our website. You may print out the form, complete it and send to the Business Office, 524 Park Avenue, Hoboken, NJ 07030, to determine if you qualify. Paper copies of the free and reduced meal application are also available in English and Spanish in the main office of your child’s school. For additional translations in other languages to assist with the completion of the hard copy of the application, please visit USDA NSLA Translated Applications Site. Once you complete a paper application, you should receive a determination via email within 10 school days of submission.

 

All students who received free or reduced meals in the past MUST reapply in order to maintain their eligibility, unless they are considered direct certified. The reapplication deadline is October 10, 2024. If you do not reapply for free or reduced meals, you will be responsible to pay for all meal charges after October 10, 2024 until a new free and reduced meal application is submitted and approved. Students who are considered direct certified will be notified via postal mail.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITY FOR MEAL CHARGES

Please understand you are responsible for all charges PRIOR to acceptance to the free/reduced program. Therefore, it is advantageous for you to submit an application as soon as possible. Additionally, note that a free or reduced eligibility only applies to complete meals (breakfast and lunch), and not a la carte items. A list of a la carte items & prices is posted below.

 

 

NOTE: You may reapply for free or reduced-price meal benefits at ANY time during the school year. If you are not eligible now, but your income goes down, your family size gets larger, or you begin to receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, TANF, or FDPIR benefits, you may submit a new application at that time.
