Hoboken Public Schools implements Pre Advanced Placement Program for the 2021-2022 School Year
Hoboken, NJ, May 19, 2021 — The Hoboken Public School District is proud to announce the launch of a Pre Advanced Placement Program. The Pre-Advanced Placement Program will be available to all Hoboken Middle School and Hoboken High School students starting in the 2021-2022 school year. The Pre-AP Program will be coordinated by Mr. Damien Arnone, Director of District Operations, Guidance, Support Services and Data Management. The Pre-Advanced Placement Program is designed to give all students the opportunity to obtain foundational knowledge and skills needed for mastery of Advanced Placement and other college-level coursework. Pre-AP is based on the following two important premises: The first is the expectation that all students will successfully engage in rigorous academic coursework. The second is the non-negotiable expectation that all students will be prepared for higher intellectual engagement. Beginning in the middle school years, this program will provide powerful opportunities to all students. “This is a wonderful addition to our overall academic program at Hoboken Middle School. It provides advanced learning opportunities in mathematics, the humanities and in the fine and performing arts,” said Anna Marra, Principal of Hoboken Middle School. The following Pre-Advanced Placement Program Courses will be offered in September to students at Hoboken Middle School and Hoboken High School: Hoboken Middle School will offer the following Pre-Advanced Placement courses: Pre-AP Algebra I Pre-AP World HIstory Pre-AP Music Pre-AP Visual Arts Pre-AP Dance Pre-AP Theater Hoboken High School will offer the following Pre-Advanced Placement courses: Pre-AP Algebra I Pre-AP Geometry with Statistics Pre-AP English I Pre-AP English II Pre-AP Biology Pre-AP Chemistry Pre-AP Theater Pre-AP Visual Arts In addition to rigorous coursework offered through Project Lead the Way, Dual Credit High School & College Level Courses and now the Pre-Advanced Placement Program, the Hoboken Public School District continues to raise the bar and assist students with achieving all of their academic and career-oriented goals. “We continue to expand our academic programs each year.
