Last Thursday, a group of young poets from Hoboken High School ventured to Little City Books as part of a project that bridged Women’s History Month and National Poetry Month.
Students in Ms. Karen Koerner’s class first picked a well-known, positive female role model and researched their lives. The next step was analyzing poetry, written by or about their chosen female role model. The culmination of the project was held at Little City Books, where each student presented a brief overview of their selection, and read and discussed the poem they thought best captured the essence of that person.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Johnson was on-hand to witness the budding young poets in action, and provided some feedback of her own.
Thank you to Little City Books for hosting us, we’re looking forward to coming back soon!
