Hoboken Public School District Adds Sensory Friendly Swim Time for Children with Special Needs to Saturday Community Swim Hours
Hoboken, NJ, — Wednesday, January 17, 2024, The Hoboken Public School District has added sensory friendly swim time for children with special needs to its Saturday community swim hours at no cost to Hoboken residents.
The pool at Hoboken High School will be open from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM for family swim sessions and from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM for adult lap swim sessions for those 18 years and older on the following Saturdays: January 20th, January 27th, February 3rd, February 10th, February 24th, March 2nd, March 9th, March 16th, and March 23th.
Beginning on Saturday, January 27th, the Hoboken Public School District will also offer one hour of sensory friendly swim sessions at Hoboken High School for children with special needs from 1 PM to 2 PM. Lead Lifeguards for these dedicated swim sessions are also certified special education teachers. Our sensory friendly swim sessions will take place on January 27th, February 3rd, February 10th, February 24th, March 2nd, March 9th, March 16th and March 23rd.
Safety is our priority. Residents must bring ID and sign in upon entry into the school. The pool will be staffed with Red Cross Certified Lifeguards. Public Swim capacity is dependent on the number of lifeguard staff available to ensure proper safety ratios are maintained. All swimmers are asked to bring personal towels and swim shoes. Proper swim attire must be worn in and around the pool.
